Explore The beaches of the Aegean Sea & Southeast side of the peninsula:
Visiting Pelion one has to experience the southeast side of the Peninsula to get a full picture of the beauty of Pelion. Should you decide to reach the town of Argalasti you can discover the numerous beaches of this area. Don’t miss the beach of ‘Potistika’, a wide fine pebbled beach with a nice quiet beach bar located on a hill offering great views. You can have a cocktail, a little snack or lunch at Climax Bar. At the far right of the bay there is a small path that leads to the next beach called ‘Melani’.
This is more of a wild beach with no organised facilities. It can be accessed by car too from a signed junction after Argalasti. Potistika is a great place for families, just be warned that when northern winds are strong, large waves can be intimidating, especially for young kids. So best visited when southern winds are prevailing. You can see this web camera link to check the waves before deciding to make the trip to the Aegean Sea.
You can also try other beaches like ‘Mortias’ or ‘Liri’ farther away. If you decide to reach ‘Platanias’ or ‘Katigiorgis (Agios Georgios) then you can even take a little boat taxi to cross to Skiathos and swim at ‘Koukounaries’ beach. When you are in Argalasti region we suggest that you visit the village of ‘Lafkos’ with its great square dominated by three huge cypress trees. Explore the village and discover a different architectural style from the rest of the region.
Finally, in the area of Argalasti there are some small wineries you can visit and meet the owners, try or buy some local organic wine. Ask in Argalasti to tell you how to get to “Patisti’ winery, ‘Koukis Philipos’ winery or ‘Milea’ winery, to mention a few.
