KALIFTERI. The beach of Kalifteri is located in the entrance of Afissos village and impresses with its golden sand, the calm shallow sea and its cosmopolitan atmosphere. Visitors who prefer it for varying reasons often occupy the long coast. It has a great infrastructure with umbrellas and sunbeds along with several beach bars and a choice of many watersports such as waterski, banana tow or canoe. Many windsurfers also choose the beach while frequent parties are held with great attendance. Nearby at Afissos end, is another great beach Abovos, with similar characteristics while just after Kalifteri is a much smaller, secluded bay, Lagoudi. Access to the beach is easy by following the road towards Afissos, you will know you are reaching Kalifteri as it offers a great overview from the road. Parking during peak times and holidays can be daunting. The public buses that go to Afissos also serve Kalifteri. After a day of sunbathing and swimming, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset in the beach or in the village of Afssos that is very close, approximately 15 minutes walking from the northern end of the beach. If you’d like a nice meal a bit more smart than typical taverna, you can book a table at 6 keys beach restaurant for great sunset dinners.
